How did you find out about Haslers initially?
From the Accountancy Age website of top 50 firms.

How was your first day?
I found it slightly daunting but people here are so friendly I settled in very quickly. It also helped that I recognised a few people from the graduate intake evening so not everyone was a complete stranger. the first day was also very admin based so it didn't really feel as though it counted as an actual work day!

What made you choose Haslers?
The fact that it was a top 50 firm at the time (now top 40), and the blend of experience I would get from working at a medium sized firm rather than a large firm.

A lot of my friends were working for the 'Big Four' and for the first six months all they did was one part of the audit file - I didn't want a job where day in day out I'd be doing the same thing. I also gain accounts preparation experience here which I would not have got in a larger firm. The ultimate decider for me was the overall friendliness of the firm and that they had a social committee for social events, which was important to me as I would be relocating.

What attracted you to your specialist area?
I was most interested in BSG as I had studied auditing within my degree and found it to be my favourite module. I also wanted to do the ACA, which is what BSG offers. I get some tax exposure in BSG too in preparing computations.

How would you describe an average day?
When I am out on audit I am usually doing testing aspect on file whilst assisting a senior, but I also get involved in all areas. When in the office I am most commonly working on accounts preparation type work and completing all parts of the file.

If you are studying for your professional qualification, how has this been - honestly?
Good - tough to begin with but the intensity just takes getting a little used to. Also, college is very exam-focussed and the tutors are always around to help out if need be.

Do you have any other comments you would like to make about your experience here?
It's been generally very enjoyable - would recommend it as a great firm to work for!
