Haslers celebrate fifth Give a Gift Appeal in a row with Frank Charles

Staff and Partners at Chartered Accountancy firm Haslers have joined well-known fundraiser Frank Charles for the fifth year running to donate a bundle of presents and Christmas joy to children at the Acorn Ward at Whipps Cross Hospital.

Over the last few weeks, the firm based in Loughton collected more than £500 worth of donations from staff and Partners, which has been used to purchase gifts for those staying at the ward during the festive season.

This new tradition at the firm replaced its old ‘Secret Santa’ system and has sought to give rather than receive gifts every year by teaming up with the Frank Charles Give a Gift Appeal, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.

The Appeal was started in memory of Frank’s son Ashley Charles, who was born in 1987 and sadly passed, aged 23 months, from Hirschsprung’s Disease.

Frank was also born with this disease and spent many years in Great Ormond Street Hospital as a child and it was these two experiences that drove him to start the collection for the hospital in Leytonstone, London.

Michael Watts, Partner at Haslers was joined by colleagues Kyle, Joseph and Joanna to deliver the gifts in person with Frank Charles.

Reflecting on the success of their ongoing fundraising for the appeal, Michael said: “We are delighted to be supporting his fantastic cause once again. Each year we arrive at the Acorn Ward we are blown away by the response we get from the children, who are so excited to see us.“For the last five years our staff have gone above and beyond to raise money for the appeal and we cannot thank them enough. I hope the gifts that we have donated will bring some festive cheer to those who received them.”
