Treasure hunt sees local accountants rack up more miles in charity challenge

The streets of Loughton were awash with members of staff from Haslers Chartered Accountants last week as they took part in a treasure hunt for charity.

In total 18 members of the firm’s team participated in the event, which was part of the practice’s 10,000-mile challenge, which is raising money for the Haslers Foundation.

By following clues spread out around the town the teams managed to cover more than 38 miles. After a hard-fought race, Debra Dougal, Meg Abery and Shiobhan Barrett won the event, which ended with the greatest prize of all – an evening at the Victoria Tavern in Smart’s Lane.

Jon O’Shea, Chairman of Haslers Chartered Accountants, said: “Everyone had a fantastic time and it has certainly helped us to clock up a couple of extra miles for our challenge.

“With the weather being so fantastic and the promise of a pub at the end of the adventure it was the perfect way to raise money for some fantastic causes.”

The Haslers Foundation – the firm’s very own in-house charity – has made more than £150,000 of donations to charities in and around Essex since it was launched, including recent donations to Changing Faces, the Mobility Trust, Care Free Kids and ECHO.
