Our Timeline
1950s – Humble Beginnings
Haslers Accountants was founded by Harry Hasler in 1951.
For a period of almost 20 years, Harry would grow the practice – almost single-handedly!
He was married to Jenny and they had two children, Wendy and Alan.
Along with his secretary, Vida, Harry worked from his home in Seven Kings, Ilford. In 1972, Harry was joined by Michael Gould who joined the operation as a partner. They continued to work together in a spare bedroom in Harry’s home!
Early 1970s – Moving Out
Harry was joined by Michael Gould – who joined the operation as partner.
Whilst all working at Harry’s home, Harry’s wife, Jenny would cook a hot lunch and insisted they all take a 15 minute walk before returning to work!
In 1973 the group moved to a larger premises in South Woodford on the corner of St Albans Road & South Woodford High Road. They were joined by Olga Hardcastle and Janet Paternoster. The office was approx. 600 square feet.
Late 1970s – Stanley Joins
Stanley Baskin joined Haslers as Partner in 1976. A year later the growing team moved to a refurbished butchers shop (which had stood since 1709) in Johnston Road, Woodford Green.
In 1979 the ground floor was extended and in 1980 the upper floor taking the square footage to 6,400.
1980s – A Growing Team!
In the 80’s 4 new partners joined the Haslers team, marking a significant period of expansion.

1990s – Haslers Reaches New Heights
The 90s represented a significant period of growth for Haslers.
In 1990 Jon O’Shea, our current Chairman and Tax Partner, joined the firm and in 1997 Haslers merged with Laurence Anthony & Co. The merger led to a further 7 partners joining the business.
1998 saw a further merger with local firm Saunter Chappell.
2005 – Moving & Merging
Reflecting the significant expansion, in 2005 Haslers relocated to a significantly larger premises (our current HQ) on Old Station Road in Loughton, Essex.
The same year, Haslers expanded further through another merger. This time with Warner Bearman.
Late 2000s – A Fresh Focus on Giving Back
The late 2000s saw Haslers take a number of innovative steps to increase stakeholder engagement.
In 2007, we began to facilitate a formal work experience process and began a liaison service with local schools.
In 2008, the Haslers Foundation was formally established and registered as a charity. The foundation aims to relieve poverty & hardship, support people facing severe illness and to support young people in society.
In 2010 we introduced a staff volunteering program to give back to our local community.
2010s – Positive Changes
2012 saw Haslers Launch the VAT Helpline service – a specialist support service led by VAT partner, Debra Dougal.
In 2015, Haslers merged with Robert Jackson & Co and in 2017 Jon O’Shea became the new Haslers chairman.
In 2018, Haslers’ environmental initiative, now called Haslers Zero, was launched. The aim of the initiative is to reach carbon neutrality through practical and realistic steps.
2020s – Haslers Today
The year 20s started with a significant merger with Gane Jackson Scott LLP. The following year saw Haslers celebrate their 70th birthday – with much fanfare!
In recent years we’ve added to our partner team, bolstered by internal promotions. They include Matt Rowland, Matt Wells and Tom Rogers.
