Ace Activities, coordinated by Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF), provides a wide range of supported activities and training opportunities for adults aged over 18 with learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges and anxiety. The programme is designed to help individuals build confidence, develop practical and social skills, reduce isolation and improve overall wellbeing through inclusive and engaging community-based activities.
As part of an exciting new creative project, Ace Activities will deliver four spring pottery workshops for groups of adults with learning disabilities. Participants will work together to design and create a ceramic panel featuring local butterflies, which will form part of a new nature trail at The Meadows, Grange Farm, commissioned by Essex Wildlife Trust. The project combines creativity, nature and community involvement, giving participants the opportunity to contribute to a lasting public artwork that can be enjoyed by visitors for years to come.
The workshops will provide meaningful and therapeutic creative experiences while helping participants develop new artistic and practical skills. Working with ceramics can support fine motor development, concentration, communication and self-expression, while encouraging teamwork and boosting self-esteem. Importantly, each session will be adapted to ensure everyone can participate at a level suited to their individual needs and abilities, creating an inclusive and supportive environment where participants can feel a genuine sense of achievement and pride.
The Haslers Foundation is proud to support initiatives that improve wellbeing, inclusion and opportunities within the local community. The Foundation’s grant will fund four art sessions for 15 participants, including materials, kiln firing costs and a specialist ceramics instructor, helping to bring this inspiring community project to life.
