Earlier this year Companies House introduced new identity verification requirements for UK Directors & Persons of Significant Control (PSCs).
Haslers are on hand to ensure you get verified.
About
You may have recently received a message from Companies House regarding new identity verification rules for directors and PSCs, effective from 18 November 2025 (a new legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023).
Although there has been some suggestion that accountants may be best placed to directly help with this process, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (ICAEW), of which Haslers is a member, has advised its firms not to offer this service, due to strict compliance protocols required for the Identity checks.
This is therefore a process that you as a Director or PSC must complete yourself. This will ensure maximum accuracy and compliance.
Getting verified is a relatively simple process. And can be completed in a matter of minutes.
Verification can be done one of two ways
- In person at selected UK Post Offices
In both instances you will need to follow the process as outlined on the following page: www.gov.uk/guidance/verify-your-identity-for-companies-house
You will require
- Your ID (preferably your digital passport and a smart phone (iPhone or Android phone).
- Your GOV.UK One login, or have already registered for one, before starting.
Once you have completed verification
Once you have completed the process you will be issued an IDentity Verification Code (IDV code), which you will need to forward to us, as accountants so that we may file documents on the Company’s behalf (i.e. Accounts and Confirmation Statements)
